Packaging, Delivery, Tracking, Taxes & Duties

Artwork Packaging

All works of art are precious and fragile. We, our artists, our gallery members and our trusted packaging and freight partners aim to package and deliver your artwork to you quickly, but most importantly, safely and securely.

We work with select freight partners to handle our packaging and freight around the country. This means that if your artwork is not packaged by the artist or gallery themselves, it will be professionally packaged by the experienced experts.

Artwork Insurance

All artworks sold are insured for damage or loss while in transit from the artists home or studio to your delivery address. The amount insured is up to the value of the artwork. The value of the piece is the amount you paid for it, excluding any freight, duties or taxes. Refer to our returns policy for further information, or contact us.

Full Transparency: Delivery Pricing

The price we charge for packaging and delivery is determined by the cubic meter size and weight of each artwork and the distance it has to travel to get from the artist to you. The price you pay also includes packaging materials, the time it takes to carefully package each work, and insurance.

Because each artwork is unique, and comes from a different artist, each work must be packaged and insured individually. This means that if you purchase more than one artwork, you will be charged for delivery per artwork. If you have further questions, please get in touch - we're happy to help.

Packaging Ethics & Sustainability

With safe and secure artwork packaging comes a lot of bubble wrap. We know this is not an environmentally sustainable option, and we are actively investigating alternatives. Until that time, we encourage you to reuse your artwork packaging if you can.

Artwork Delivery Process

Our step by step process is intended to ensure your beautiful piece of art gets to you safely:

  1. When you purchase your artwork, we will notify the artist. The artist will either wrap the work themselves or they will take it to our trusted packaging and freight partner to package it safely for transport. The artist has 7 calendar days after receiving a sales notification from us to get the work ready to send and/or drop it off for packaging.
  2. When the artwork has been packaged and is ready for sending to you, our freight partner will be in touch with you directly with tracking information and to arrange delivery. If you have any queries or concerns about the transit status of your artwork, please contact the freight company in the first instance. Alternatively, contact us if you need further assistance.
  3. When you receive your artwork, we encourage you to unwrap it as soon as possible and check that it has reached you in perfect condition.
  4. In the unlikely event that the work arrives damaged please contact us within 3 business days of receiving your artwork and we will work with you, the artist and our insurer to remedy the situation.
  5. If you have any questions or concerns about the delivery status of your artwork, please contact us directly. We are always happy to help.

Please note that due to the ongoing pressure Covid is having on New Zealand courier networks, it is not always possible for the courier to deliver your artwork to you when you are home. If you must have your work signed for, we recommend specifying delivery to a business address.

There may occasionally be delays in your work getting to you. If there are delays, either the carrier or Artfull will be in contact with you. You accept and acknowledge that in some instances delivery delays will be beyond the control of Artfull, the artist and or any third party.

Extra Large and/or Fragile Artworks

Some of our artworks are marked 'Enquire for shipping.' This means that they are either too large or too fragile to be packaged and sent using our regular freight partner. For artworks marked 'enquire for shipping', please enter your details in the automated pop-up box and one of our team will be in touch, either with a specific packaging and freight quote or, in special circumstances, to arrange collection from the artist.

Picking up Artworks via Special Arrangement

In special circumstances it might be possible for you to pick up the artwork you've purchased directly from the artist. If you would like to know more about this possibility, get in touch and one of the Artfull team will be able to assist.

Book Delivery

We do not hold stock of any book titles. When you order a book from us, we place an order with the relevant publisher. Some of our books are held in stock with the publisher, but, many of our books (particularly the international titles) are what are known as special orders. This means that it could take 12-15 weeks from the time we place the order for the book to arrive in New Zealand. We appreciate that this is a while to wait - but good things do take time!

If you need your book sooner, contact us and we can find out when the title you're after is likely to arrive.

While the carefully curated selection of titles we offer are available at the time we added them, in some cases, the book you order might not be available from the distributor at the time you place your order. This is due to ongoing Covid related international freight and supply chain issues. In the rare instance that this happens, we will email you and you will be refunded the full amount.
